SUMMARY, ETC. |
Summary, etc |
Above the lithe trees and swirling skies immortalized by Canadian painter Emily Carr, eleven-year-old Lee and her cousin Alex explore Vancouver Island's forest on a family camping trip. During a hike Lee trips on a root and is knocked unconscious; falling into the blue vortex of spinning sky. Lee awakens in an unfamiliar world- old landmarks have been replaced by a strange trailer, an odd woman and a herd of dogs; their campsite gone! Lee and Alex investigate only to find an ornery painter at an easel who professes to be Emily Carr and a family of squatters from the Depression-set prairies illegally logging the island's mighty cedars. Lee's mother and her Uncle Brooke have vanished and no one has an answer to Lee's constant query- where and 'when' is home? |
